Description
What is IDEAL? IDEAL is a 2-year postsecondary certificate program for students with intellectual disabilities that helps promote independence, job skills, and academics. Our students have made an impact on the Lipscomb Community by demonstrating grace, compassion, and kindness to everyone they meet. We are working with future business leaders, pharmacists, nurses, doctors, teachers, scientists, actors and more through our peer mentor program. IDEAL is more than a program. It is a place to belong. A place where a disability does not define students nor does it stop the students from chasing their dreams. While at Lipscomb, IDEAL students audit university classes that tie to their career interests. They intern in departments on campus and in off-campus job sites. Students take specialized classes that promote social, communication, and employment skills. They have the option to live in the dorm to learn independent skills. And lastly, as college students, they make friends, attend sporting events, hang out, and have fun! Your donations will support our program as we prepare our students for their futures. We already have a $10,000 challenge! Once we get to 75 donors, we’ll unlock a bonus $10,000! Consider giving $22 to represent each of our current students in the IDEAL program or $66 to honor each of our graduates. Give $133 for the Founder’s Challenge! Or any amount that’s comfortable for you. Each donation will provide direct support to IDEAL students in various ways as we live out our mission to empower students with disabilities to become young adults with opportunities. Also, because this is IDEAL’s 10th anniversary year, we are rolling out a commemorative t-shirt TODAY! Anyone who gives at least $66 to honor our graduates will receive a free 10th anniversary t-shirt! Details will be emailed to those who qualify.
